As the child of academics, education has always been of paramount importance to me, and I use it every day when I speak to clients. In my view, educating my clients about their financial plan, their investments, and all of their options, is the value I bring to the table. It’s my goal to have my clients feel comfortable with their financial plan and provide them with wisdom and direction in reaching their goals.

Raised mostly in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I was instilled with mid-western friendliness and a deep passion for Michigan football! When I was 15, my family moved to Miami, FL which was an incredible change to a thriving cosmopolitan city. Despite the lure of a tropical paradise, college took me to St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where I was the captain of the Track team and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science.

My first career out of college was with the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies where I was taught the value of providing exceptional client service and financial oversight of risk. The company gave me more and more responsibility as they moved me from Long Island, to Albany, White Plains, NY, and Boston, MA.

My career as a Financial Advisor began with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and its predecessor firms in 2000 when my wife and I moved to Maine.  As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERProfessional, my role includes management of retirement planning, education planning, cash flow projections, tax strategies, insurance review and estate planning.

In 2012, we founded 44 North Financial Partners to better serve our clients in an independent setting.

Giving back and helping others is a big part of my life. Currently, I am a Board member at Kieve Wavus Education, an amazing camp that focuses on character education through experiential programs and camps for children while focusing on kindness and respect. As someone who benefited from their profound influence, we continue the legacy where all four of my children attended and some now work.

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is my other passion. I am especially proud to have been the President of the Board of Directors for the Capital Campaign to raise more than $14MM to build a new building from ground up. My tenure brought us through fundraising, design, construction, and completion of the new building, as well as hiring a new Executive Director. I could not be more proud of the result, please come visit!

My wife, Kolleen, and I live in Yarmouth, Maine with our four kids: Ellis, Frazier, Harry, and Tessa. I am especially proud of my wife who not only manages our house, kids, and dog, but is also an Anesthesiologist and Critical Care doctor who goes to extraordinary lengths of time and energy in caring for others.  When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my family in Biddeford Pool, Maine, going on hikes, downhill skiing, playing tennis, mountain and road biking, sea kayaking, and golf.

When I graduated from college, I made a list of goals for myself. Among the items were how to invest money, make a positive difference in people’s lives and live with a core set of ethical values. The principals of hard work, helping others, and being ethical have become ingrained in my life and my work.
