Matthew P. Carr
After growing up on the East Coast outside of Boston, graduating from the University of Denver (with a semester spent in Spain), and spending a significant amount of time in both Vermont and a family farm in Andover, ME, I call Maine home – the perfect combination of mountains, woods and water.
I began my career as a financial advisor with Smith Barney in 1997. Over the years, I have helped clients manage their money through the technology bubble, the Real Estate bubble, the “Great Recession” and of course the near collapse of the entire banking system. Valuable lessons were learned and my passion for understanding the markets and helping clients successfully navigate risk and grow their investments continues today.
I manage stock and bond portfolios for clients based on their specific goals, needs and risk tolerance; each client has their own individualized plan and portfolio. My primary focuses include: global value investing, risk management, retirement planning, and estate planning.
I have always enjoyed working with people and providing them with straightforward advice. I am thrilled to be a part of 44 North Financial Partners and Commonwealth and look forward to continuing to provide my clients with independent advice aimed at meeting their best interest.
I currently reside in Brunswick with my wife and three children on a small farm and enjoy playing guitar, continually learning new things about the world around me, and introducing my kids to the great outdoors through family adventures of skiing, hiking, biking and canoeing.
